SATURDAY IN DOUBT (28/2/01)
Saturday's game with Clydebank in Greenock is already a major doubt. The forecast is for sub-zero temperatures which will more than likely result in a frozen pitch come Saturday. Yesterday's match at Cappielow between Morton and Ross County was postponed due to the weather so things aren't looking good.

O'NEIL & GRAHAMChairman Jamie Curle and manager Paul Smith this afternoon completed the signing of Hearts pair Kris O'Neil and Alasdair Graham until the end of the season. The two signings were made one day before the loan transfer deadline, and others may be on their way as the push for promotion is stepped up a gear.

SIGNINGS IMMINENT! (26/2/01)
Latest rumours suggest that Paul Smith is ready to move for two or three players this week. He hoping to tie up loan deals with two current SPL players before next Saturday's game with Clydebank and he is also trying to sign a player recently released from a First Division club. Meanwhile, the club will try and secure the services of Dale Gray long term when his three month contract runs out next month.

BEAT THE BOOKIE! (14/2/01)SUPPORT THIS SITE BY CLICKING HERE!
Most bookmakers have paid out on Partick Thistle winning the league after the Jags soared 18 points clear at the top last night. William Hill is offering 66/1 on Berwick winning the league, and 15/1 on Stranraer winning the league. The race for second spot is far from over with any one of six teams in with a realistic shout.

You can still have 5/1 on Berwick going up with Ladbrokes, or 7/1 if you look hard enough.

This weekend Berwick are 3/1 on the coupon with Ladbrokes. The same bookie is offering 7/1 on Berwick to be leading at half time and full time. Stranraer half time, Berwick full time is 26/1.

FIXTURES ANNOUNCED (12/2/01)

Queen of the South (H)- Sun 25th March, 2pm K.O.
Stirling Albion (H) Wed 28th March, 7.30pm K.O.
Forfar Athletic (A)- Tue 3rd April, 7.30pm K.O.

SMITH: WE HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE (6/2/01)
Paul Smith was obviously disappointed to have seen three points washed away in the Station Park sleet. He said: "
Naturally I was disappointed that the game at Forfar was abandoned at the break due to the conditions because they were playing exceptionally well at the time and looked like heading for victory, picking up three valuable points on the way.

"I was a bit concerned about what the attitude of the players might be, possibly with one eye on the cup tie, but in all honesty I have to say they were totally and completely focused on the job in hand and that's how it should be.

Looking forward to the replay on Wednesday night, Smith said: "The pressure is all on Hearts and I will be telling the players to enjoy the occasion. You just never know what might happen."

RE-ARRANGED GAMES (6/2/01)
The club have confirmed the dates for some of the postponed games this winter. Our crucial league game with Stranraer at Shielfield has been penciled in for Tuesday, February 27 with a 7:30pm K.O. The away game at Stenhousemuir is on Tuesday, March 13 (four days before Stenny visit Shielfield), again with a 7:30pm K.O. The home game with QOS and last Saturday's abandoned game are likely to be late March, although nothing has been decided yet.

FORFAR ATHLETIC 1-3 BERWICK RANGERS  (3/2/01)
MATCH ABANDONED AT HALF TIME DUE TO SNOW
Berwick fans left Station Park absolutely fuming after wasting time and money on a game which probably shouldn't have kicked off. It's a good thing for Forfar that referee Ritchie abandoned the game, as the home side were totally crushed in the first half. Goals from Barry Elliot, Craig Findlay and Martin Neil saw us race into a 3-0 lead before Forfar pulled one back through Dave Beaton.

Pick of the goals was Craig Findlay's mazy run and curling shot over the Forfar 'keeper to make it 3-0. Barry Elliot caused Forfar serious problems with his pace and on another day could have had a first half hat-trick.

At half time the ground staff cleared the lines but the referee decided the pitch was unplayable. With the pitch no worse at half time than it was when the game kicked off, why on earth did the ref let the game go ahead at all?

With all these postponements, Berwick face seven or eight games next month. And it could get even worse if any more games are called off.
